“PAC Backs Scott in Uphill Battle: Fall Ads Disengaged as Momentum Lags”

A South Carolina super PAC backed by Senator Tim Scott, the only Black Republican in the Senate, has unexpectedly pulled all of its fall ads in the state. Concerns are increasing that the PAC’s move to gain traction in the traditionally red state is severely falling short of expectations as the November election rapidly approaches.

Senator Scott is running a competitive race with Democratic candidate Jaime Harrison but Harrison has held the lead in some recent polls. The super PAC invested over $7 million in the state in television ads, digital ads, and door-to-door canvassing, to try to propel Scott to victory. As the campaign continues to spiral downhill in South Carolina, officials are questioning why the PAC has decided to completely pull all fall ads.

Although no major statement has been released by Scott’s campaign, a spokesperson for the PAC has acknowledged that it will not be advertising in the state until after the November election. It appears the campaign is still confident that it can turn the tide and will rely on strong ground game efforts in the coming weeks to build up momentum in the final stretch. Will this strategy lead to a win for Scott? Only time will tell.

At this point, analysts are uncertain as to what the PAC’s long-term plans are. It was originally thought that a majority of the PAC’s resources in the fall would be dedicated to supporting Scott in South Carolina but this sudden halt in activity has caused much speculation. With less than 50 days left until the election, Scott will need to rally and prove to his base that he is a viable candidate in order to overcome his current polling numbers. It will be interesting to see if and how the super PAC chooses to get involved in the race leading up to November 3rd.
