“USA Network Scores Big with WWE: $1.4 Billion SmackDown Deal!”

WWE Smackdown, one of the most popular professional wrestling shows in the recent years, is set to make a return to NBCUniversal’s USA Network in a deal worth more than $1.4 billion. This is unprecedented for a professional wrestling show, and demonstrates the growing success that the company has had in recent years.

The move is to begin in October 2019 and will mean that Smackdown will be broadcasted live for two hours every one of the 26 weeks of the year. This perfectly coincides with the WWE’s plans to produce a show every week of the year. As well as TV the deal also extends to include streams and download services of the show, allowing fans to watch highlights and past episodes. More information will be revealed as the weeks move closer towards the shows return.

This deal marks the end of the show’s five year stint on SyFy, and it is positive to see such a well-known and well received show making its move into a more mainstream platform. This move has been described as “groundbreaking” from Vince McMahon, the CEO of WWE, and will help to cement Smackdown as one of the premier shows in the industry.

For viewers, the move to NBCUniversal will bring a series of new benefits, including ease of access and a range of new viewing options. As well as this, the move is expected to bring about a variety of new opportunities, such as the potential to reach a much broader audience, as well as potential new advertisement opportunities.

This $1.4 billion deal is the biggest for a professional wrestling show since the 1990s, and marks a major milestone in the history of WWE. The show is expected to continue to gain viewers as a result of this deal, and it will be interesting to see if these viewers translate into higher ratings and more success for the show in the future.
