“Long Shot Hurd Makes Dream Team with Haley: GOP Campaign Ends Here!”

The news that Republican presidential primary challenger Will Hurd has ended his campaign and thrown his support to former ambassador Nikki Haley puts an end to a long shot primary bid that, while surprising to some, never seemed to gain much traction.

Hurd, a former congressman from Texas, had revealed his candidacy via a statement in October 2020. In it, he expressed his deep respect for President Donald Trump but also indicated that the party needed to “evolve to continue our success into the future.”

Hurd said that he had spoken to a variety of potential supporters and ultimately didn’t have “the necessary structure to win in November.”

He has now endorsed Haley, who served as United Nations ambassador to the US during the Trump administration. In his endorsement, Hurd praised her “thoughtful and determined approach to politics,” adding that she had “the best chance of winning the presidency in November and setting our nation up for future success.”

Haley has already highlighted Hurd’s endorsement in a statement of her own, praising the Texas-born politician’s “attention to detail, honesty, and willingness to listen to all sides of an issue.”

With Hurd’s support in her corner, Nikki Haley will now look to capitalize on the momentum gathered over the course of her campaign, a potential which looks more promising in the wake of his endorsement.
